What is Ethanol?

Ethanol is a renewable, plant-based fuel. Most ethanol is currently made in the United States from field corn, not the sweet corn we enjoy fresh off the cob, frozen or canned. Ethanol naturally has a higher octane level, which helps it burn cleaner than regular gasoline.

A cleaner fuel

Ethanol replaces toxic chemicals in gasoline that have been known to cause cancer and smog. The production and use of corn ethanol decreases greenhouse gas emissions, allowing us all to breathe a little easier.

Your choice at the pump

While you might brush over the thought, each time you pick up a nozzle at the gas station you make a decision. Each fuel has different blends of ethanol and gasoline. Higher blends of ethanol provide greater environmental and economical benefits.
